A chartered plane
carrying professional golfer Peter Jacobsen made an emergency landing early
Tuesday at Fayetteville Regional Airport.
The plane landed on only
the right landing gear at about 1 a.m. when the left landing gear would
not extend. No one was hurt.
Jacobsen was en route to Pinehurst, N.C., where he was scheduled to play
in a pro-am event. Jacobsen played last week in the Las Vegas Invitational.
Damage to the plane was estimated at $700,000. The left wing tip of the
plane scraped the runway as it came to a stop, said assistant fire chief
Benny Nichols.
Several commercial flights were canceled as authorities investigated the
incident. Flights resumed at 9 a.m.
