K Club to host 2005 Ryder Cup ?

DUBLIN -- The European Ryder Cup Committee is expected to confirm later this week that the 2005 Cup will be hosted by the K Club in Straffan, County Kildare, a source close to the club said on Tuesday.

The K Club will not receive official confirmation of the decision until a press conference on Friday but the source said other clubs in Ireland had already been told they would not be chosen for the biennial event between Europe and the United States.

The K Club's owners Jefferson Smurfit Plc declined to comment.
