Kiwi
golfer gets two aces in a day
A
New Zealand golf club greenkeeper got to know his course so well he knocked in
a hole in one on two different holes on the same day.
Wayne Brown, a 10-handicapper
with the Pines Golf Club at Whangarei, got his aces in consecutive rounds Saturday
in club competition.
He used a six-iron to ace
the par-3 18th during the first round and later aced the par-3 fifth during a
second round.
"Getting a hole in one for
a golfer is sort of like climbing Mt. Everest," said Brown, who had previously
had three aces during his career.
His luck extended to the
fact that the Pines club recently changed the tradition of golfers having to
buy drinks for the bar if they got an ace. Now the bar has to buy drinks for
the successful player.
A New Zealand bookmaker
said the odds of Brown's achievement were about one in 100 million.
