Davis Love III, who missed the American teams get together last week is
taking the next two weeks off in a bid to get fully fit for the Ryder Cup.
Love is suffering
from a reoccurring pinch nerve problem in his back. Two times in 1998 he
was forced to withdraw from tournaments, and even if he declares himself
fit there will be a question over his ability to be able to stand up to
the stress of up to five rounds in three days.
"It's affecting
his back, neck and shoulder and he's been advised to rest," said spokesman
Mac Bernhardt. "It's something that comes and goes with Davis and
it's basically down to wear and tear - and age. But there's no reason to
think he won't be able to play the Ryder Cup."
