Colin Montgomerie is relishing the chance to show Tiger Woods
that he is capable of taking over as the best in the world.
Montgomerie had to take a back-seat as Miguel Angel Jiminez won the Volvo Masters,
while World No.1 Woods clinched his eight trophy of the year in the Tour Championship.
The duo are set to appear in this week's
American Express World Championship starting at Valderrama on Thursday
but Monty feels he can get the better of the Tiger in Spain on a course
where the American failed to shine
in the Ryder Cup two years ago.
"Tiger is so far ahead of anybody else in the world of golf right now and
good luck to him," said Montgomerie.
The way he is performing he is
dangerous anywhere.
"I'm glad it's Valderrama.
Confidence is what it's all about and I'll be very surprised if he's not a
hot favourite this week. But I've got a god record there and I'm looking forward to going
back"
Woods said: "I'm looking forward to having another go at that course. I feel
very comfortable with my golf swing.
It's taken since the middle of 1997 to this May before I felt really good. "
