New rule changes to be announced Thursday

The Royal and Ancient are to announce their changes to the rules of golf at a press conference at St Andrews on Thursday.

There have been many arguments and discussion since the rules were last amended 4 years ago.

Possible changes include:-

Outlawing broomhandle putters - or at least how they are used

Stopping caddies from aligning shots for players, full strokes or putts.

However there is unlikely to be any change to the effectiveness of modern drivers - studies are still progressing in the UK and the US.
