Henning beats Clarke
in playoff
South African Nic Henning won his
first tournament as a professional on Sunday by clinching the South African
Players' Championship in a sudden-death play-off with Northern Ireland's
Darren Clarke.
Henning carded a two-under par
round of 72 at the Royal Cape Golf Club for a 72 hole total of 12-under
par 276. Clarke had a near perfect round with a bogey free 68 that enforced
the play-off.

The two players took to the 18th
tee and after both recorded pars on the first extra hole -- missing straightforward
birdie putts it was back to the tee.
Back on the green, Henning watched
Clarke stroke his fifteen-foot putt for birdie past the hole and then sank
his 13-footer to claim the title, his first in seven seasons as a professional.
