Europe's Ryder Cup captain will
be announced on Wednesday, officials said on Tuesday.
European captain Mark James stepped down after the United
States won the Cup 14-1/2 to 13-1/2 in Brookline, Boston, in
September.
The announcement will take place at 1100 GMT at the European
Tour's headquarters.
Sam Torrance is a leading contender for the job, with the
next Ryder Cup taking place at the Belfry on September 28-30,
2001. Torrance has been favourite for the job ever since Mark James announced that Brookline was to be a one off experience.
