The field of 12 is now complete for the inaugural Williams World Challenge, presented by Target, with the announcement today that currentOpen champion Paul Lawrie has accepted an invitation to play from the Tiger Woods Foundation.
In addition to his Open victory at Carnoustie in his native Scotland, Lawrie was a member of the 1999 European Ryder Cup team. He has earned over $1 million worldwide this year.
The Williams World Challenge, a $3.5-million, 72-hole event, will be played Dec. 28-Jan. 2 here at Grayhawk Golf Club.
The Tiger Woods Foundation invited the top 10 available players from the November 7 Official World Golf Ranking, plus two at-large selections. Here are the rest of the players in the field with each player's current ranking in parentheses: Tiger Woods (1), David Duval (2), Davis Love III (4), Vijay Singh (8), Phil Mickelson (9), Mark O'Meara (10), Sergio Garcia (11), Justin Leonard (13), Hal Sutton (14), John Huston (16),and Tom Lehman (22).
