In addition to helping the United States win its 22nd World Cup this weekend, Tiger Woods was also awarded the Majors Aggregate Champion at a function at
the Palace of the Golden Horses in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
This award is won each year by the golfer with the lowest aggregate score in golf's four major championships -- the Masters, U.S. Open,Open and PGA Championship.
Woods' aggregate total was 1-over-par (1141). The next closest competitor was European No. 1 Colin Montgomerie at 15 over (1155). Woods shot a 1-over 289 at the Masters (tied for 18th), a 1-over 281 at the U.S. Open (tied for third), a 10-over 294 at the British Open (tied for seventh) and a 11-under 288 to win the PGA Championship.
Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew of Country
Heights, the first sponsor, presented the trophy at a gala
called "An Evening with Tiger Woods," which was attended by the
wife of the Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamed.
The party, which showed its appreciation
for Woods, greatly impressed the world's No. 1 golfer -- with one
reservation.
"It felt like a retirement party," he said. "I'm not retired."
