Ernie Els completed a comfortable victory in the invitational tournament that bears his own name on Wednesday.
The South African star won the 36-hole Ernie Els Invitational on the Outeniqua and Montague courses at Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate by a massive eight strokes.
In near-perfect conditions, the visibly relaxed world No. 4 made six birdies and an eagle on the par-5 18th to add a faultless 64 to his opening 62 and a take his two-round total to a staggering 18-under-par 126.
Tied for a distant second place were former Ernie Els Foundation member Louis Oosthuizen and Darren Fichardt, who both finished on 10 under, James Kamte was tied for fourth at 7 under with South African stars Tim Clark and Retief Goosen.
Els admitted to being somewhat puzzled at the end of the round.
"I don't know where that came from," he joked. "I wish I could work out what I did so that I can take it on the tour with me!
"The weather has been great, the courses superb and everything has gone amazingly," he added. "To raise the amount of money we did last night was fantastic, and it is for such a good cause."
Els was referring to the auction dinner that raised more than $200,000 for the Ernie Els and Fancourt Foundation, an organization that looks after a large group of aspirant young golfers from families of limited resources.
