Fit again Justin Rose returns to action

Justin Rose, sidelined by a back injury since sharing fifth place at the U.S. Masters in early April, cannot wait to get his competitive juices flowing again at this week's PGA Championship.

"I haven't played since Augusta so I am raring to go," the 26-year-old Briton told reporters on the eve of the European Tour's flagship event.

"I have had plenty of rest in order to get my back strong. I played on Monday and had no problems and practised hard yesterday so I am doing well and in good shape."

The Florida-based Rose, who has already won on the European Tour this season, said he was unsure how he would fare on the West Course at Wentworth.

"There are two ways it can go," he said. "You can either be a little bit rusty or you can be very fresh mentally, tournament sharp.

"This week the excitement of playing again, is that going to outweigh the fact that I could be a little rusty?".

Englishman Rose ended a four-year wait for a European Tour victory when he won the Australian Masters in November and is keen to excel at the PGA.

"This is a great tournament," he said. "It is a tournament I grew up watching as a kid.

"It is on the hit list that I really want to win one day."

Rose acknowledged he would be busy on and off the course and said he needed to focus fully on his golf.

"The challenge this week is going to be my concentration," he said. "There is going to be lots going on.

"A lot of faces I haven't seen for a long time, a lot of catching up with people, a lot of distractions.

"The key for me is to really try and get into the tournament, focus on my job and try to play well. The better I do that the better my chance of winning."
