Phil Mickelson wins Players and returns to world no. 2

Phil Mickelson won the Players Championship at the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass with a final round of 69 for a 2 stroke victory over Spain's Sergio Garcia. Mickelson re-claims his World Number Two ranking, an improvement of one place, and moves to within 11.15 average points of Tiger Woods.

Lee Westwood triumphed at the Valle Romano Open de Andalucia to earn his 17th European Tour victory and his first in nearly four years. Westwood moves to 48th in the Official World Golf Ranking a rise of 15 places.

This week's other winners were Toshimitsu Izawa at the Japan PGA Championship, Joost Luiten at the A.G.F. Allianz Golf Open de Toulouse on the European Challenge Tour and Wes Heffernan at the Riviera Nayarit Classic on the Canadian Tour.
