Phil Mickelson to play at Singapore Open

World number three Phil Mickelson will warm up for his Champions Tournament debut in Shanghai by playing at the Singapore Open.

"We are delighted Mickelson has chosen to make his Asian Tour debut at the Singapore Open," a tournament spokesman said in a news release on Monday.

The American left-hander joins 2005 and 2006 winner Adam Scott, world number four Ernie Els and U.S. Open champion Angel Cabrera in the field at Sentosa's par-71 Serapong championship course from November 1-4.

World number seven Vijay Singh, former U.S. Open champion Michael Campbell, European Ryder Cup stalwart Darren Clarke and Japan's Shingo Katayama will also feature.

The Singapore Open, Asia's richest national Open, offers a prize fund of $4 million.

A week later Mickelson, Els and Singh will be among the contenders in the Champions Tournament at the Sheshan International Golf Club, an event often dubbed 'Asia's major'.
