Paul McGinley & Graeme Storm added to Royal Trophy team

Irishman Paul McGinley and Graeme Storm have been picked to represent Europe against Asia in the Royal Trophy early next year, organisers said on Wednesday.

McGinley will make his third successive Royal Trophy appearance next month alongside Storm, who joins captain Seve Ballesteros's team after an impressive 2007 season which included victory in the French Open.

Ballesteros, who has been Europe's non-playing captain since the inaugural Royal trophy in 2006, said he was happy to have the pair on board, in particular McGinley because of his vast experience.

Ballesteros said: "He has the golden touch, and any captain would be delighted to have him on their side.

"He is an experienced, battle-hardened campaigner, and one of the great things about him is that you can play him with anybody else in the team, knowing he will help to bring out the best in them.

"That quality will be very important this time as we will have a few rookies like Graeme, who have bags of talent but are somewhat new to this level of team competition."

Ryder Cup holders Europe won the first two editions of the Royal Trophy, a matchplay event featuring fourball, foursomes and singles, with eight players on each team.

McGinley and Storm will team up with Sweden's Robert Karlsson, Frenchman Gregory Havret and Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke at the January 11-13 event in Chon Buri, Thailand.
