Scottish Open purse up to record £3 million
Prize money will rise by £500,000 ($976,800) to three million pounds in the 2007 Scottish Open at Loch Lomond, the European Tour said on Monday.
First prize at the July 12-15 event, the final warm-up tournament ahead of the British Open at Carnoustie, will be £500,000.
That is four times the amount collected by Denmark's Thomas Bjorn when he won the inaugural edition in 1996.
Barclays have also agreed to continue their sponsorship of the event until 2012.
Top players like Ernie Els (twice), Colin Montgomerie, Retief Goosen, Lee Westwood and Tom Lehman are among the past winners.
Sweden's Johan Edfors added his name to the list of champions with a brilliant closing round of 63 last year.
