Davis Love III to return at Pebble Beach

Davis Love III is planning on returning to the PGA Tour, and not a moment too soon.

Love, who has not played any golf since the end of September due to a severe left-ankle injury, has committed to play in next week's AT&T National Pro-Am.

Love underwent surgery during the first week of October and has undergone an extensive rehab program with his trainer Randy Myers and physical therapist Damien Moroney.

"I feel really good about my physical ability in regards to the ankle. Thanks to Randy and Damien, I am also in the best overall physical shape I have been for some time. Plus, I am hitting the ball pretty good," Love said. "I am eager to get back into competition and get this year started. I have some goals I want to achieve in 2008 and beyond. So, I am excited to get back into the mix."

A two-time winner of the AT&T Pro-Am, Love was injured when he stepped in a hole during a casual round and severely injured his ankle.

He was ranked 44th in the world ranking at the time but has slipped to 77th and will likely miss Accenture Match Play Championship. It would be the first time Love would be ineligible for a World Golf Championship in his career.

Currently Love has also has not qualified for the Masters. The last time a Masters was played without him was 1990 and he will need a victory or to quickly get into the top 50 in the world rankings to qualify.
