Luke Donald out of Ryder Cup after surgery
Luke Donald will miss next month's Ryder Cup after having surgery on his injured wrist, he said on Tuesday.
After a course of rehabilitation brought little improvement to the left wrist he hurt at the U.S. Open in June, the 30-year-old decided to have an operation on Monday and now faces a three-month recovery programme.
"While there is never a good time for an injury the timing of this was especially disappointing considering it forced me to miss the British Open and it comes in a Ryder Cup year," Donald told the European Tour's official website.
The Englishman has been sidelined since popping a tendon in his wrist during the final round of the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines.
A member of the triumphant European Ryder Cup team in 2004 and 2006, Donald had set his sights on making a third appearance at the event in Louisville, Kentucky from September 19-21.
