Martin Kaymer breaks into top 50

23 year-old Martin Kaymer, the 2007 European Tour Rookie of the Year, led from the first day and closed out the Abu Dhabi Championship with a final round 74 for a 15-under-par total of 273.

The win takes the German player to World Number 34, a jump of 42 places. He becomes the only player in the World Top 50 under 25 years of age.

England's Lee Westood took a share of second place, which hoisted him back into the world top 20 at no. 20, up three places.

On the PGA Tour, D.J. Trahan equalled the best round of the final day with a seven-under-par 65 over the Classic Course to win the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.

Justin Leonard had lead this five round Pro-Am tournament with a round to go but Trahan's 65 gave him a three stroke victory. Trahan jumps 114 places in the Official World Golf Ranking to 113th.
