Harrington closes on Mickelson as Garcia reaches 4th

World Number Three Padraig Harrington played the closing 9 holes in 32 and with third and fourth rounds of 66, 66 won the 90th PGA Championship by two strokes from Sergio Garcia and Ben Curtis.

Harrington becomes the first European since Scotland’s Tommy Armour in 1930 to win the year’s final Major Championship and the first man since Tiger Woods in 2006 to record consecutive Major wins.

Harrington closes the gap to World Number Two Phil Mickelson to 2.02 average points and is 1.72 average points ahead of new World Number Four Sergio Garcia.

Sweden's Henrik Stenson, tied for 4th at Oakland Hills, moves into the top ten, up five spots from 11th to 6th.

Curtis returns to the World Top 50 with a 40 spot jump to World Number 37 and earns a spot on the USA Ryder Cup Team.

This week's other winners were Scott Piercy at the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open on the Nationwide Tour, Ben Leong at the Worldwide Selangor Masters on the Asian Tour and Jeppe Huldahl at the Lexus Open on the European Challenge Tour.
