Tim Clark enters world top 30

South Africa's Tim Clark claimed the 2008 Australian Open by defeating Mathew Goggin on the first hole of a dramatic sudden-death play-off at Royal Sydney GC. Clark shot a 67 in the windy conditions to force a play-off then made a miraculous sand-save on the first extra hole. This left Goggin needing to make a testing three-foot putt to stay alive but his putt missed. Clark climbs 14 places to World Number 28 while Goggin, with his second straight runner up finish, is World Number 58.

Richard Sterne clinched the Alfred Dunhill Championship, a Sunshine Tour and European Tour co-sanctioned tournament, by a single shot at Leopard Creek Golf Club with a three under par 69 for a 17 under overall total of 271. The 27 year old South African finished just ahead of Englishman Robert Rock and Swede Johan Edfors. Sterne's fourth European Tour win moves him up 39 spots in the Official World Golf Ranking to 74th.

This week's other winners were Thongchai Jaidee at the Johnnie Walker Cambodian Open, his second straight win on the Asian Tour and pushing him into the top 100 at 92nd, up 29 places, and Mauricio Molina at the Costa Rica Classic on the Canadian Tour.
