Royal Trophy postponed following Royal death

Next week's Royal Trophy between Asia and holders Europe has been postponed because of the death of Thai Princess Galyani Vadhana.

The third edition of the team event will be played at a later date, the European Tour said in a news release on Thursday.

The Thai government announced a 15-day period of mourning after the 84-year-old princess, the elder sister of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, died of cancer on Wednesday.

The Royal Trophy, which was donated by the king, had been due to take place in Chon Buri province east of Bangkok from Jan. 11-13.
