Oda defends Casio title and climbs to world no. 76

Koumei Oda produced an excellent final round performance to win and successfully defend the Casio World Open on the Japan Golf Tour at Kochi Kuroshio Country Club.

Starting the day in a three-way tie for the lead with Ryo Ishikawa and Shigeki Murayama, Oda had seven birdies in 10 holes starting from the sixth and finished with a seven-under-par 65. His 21-under-par total left him three ahead of Ishikawa whose four-under 68 contained six birdies and two bogeys. Tetsuji Hiratsuka finished third on 16-under-par 272.

It was Oda's second win of the season after the Token Homemate Cup in April and moves him up to world number 76, an improvement of 39 positions.

There were no ranking tournaments on the other world tours this week.
