Rory McIlroy reaches world no. 16
Northern Ireland teenager Rory McIlroy held his nerve to win a first professional title at the Dubai Desert Classic by one stroke from Englishman Justin Rose. The 19 year old carded a final round two under par 70 to finish at 19 under and so seal a wire to wire victory, as Rose fell just short after a five under par round of 67 at Emirates Golf Club. McIlroy climbs 23 places to World Number 16 while Rose jumps up 7 to 15th.
Kenny Perry defeated Charley Hoffman at the third hole of the play-off to win the FBR Open after earlier bogeying the 72nd hole for a round of 69. A three-time PGA Tour winner last season, Perry finished 14-under for the tournament joining Hoffman who shot a final round of 67. After Perry and Hoffman recorded a bogey and par on the first two playoff holes, Perry emerged victorious and claimed his 13th PGA Tour victory. The win takes Perry to World Number Nine an improvement of 6 positions.
Darren Fichardt sunk a 15-foot birdie putt on Sunday to win the Nashua Masters by a single shot with a final-round five-under 65 and a total of 17-under 263. The win takes Fichardt to World Number 265 a jump of 194 positions.
