However well you play, you're going to miss greens. Even the 2008 PGA Tour's Greens in Regulation leader only hit xx% of them!
Getting it 'up and down' around the green and consistently turning three shots into two is one of the keys to good scoring. Practice and master this, and your handicap will tumble!
Please note: all lessons refer to right-handed golfers. For more help, see your PGA pro
1. Chips are played from off the green to roll like a putt for most of their length
2. At address, 60% of the weight should be on the left foot and remain there throughout the shot
3.The stance should be open (left of the target line)
4. The ball is positioned back of centre in the stance
5. Choose a club that will give you plenty of roll - a 6 or 7 iron
6. Place the hands down the grip and set up with the hands ahead of the ball
7. Swing the club with the 'Y' of the arms and club, without wrist action
8. Keep the head still and resist the temptation to look up early!
