Clark jumps into lead with 65

Tim Clark shot a five-under-par 65 on Saturday to grab a one-shot lead at 12-under 198 after the third round of the Buy.com Fort Smith Classic in Arkansas. Paul Gow, Joe Daley and Tjaart Van der Walt share second place at 11-under.

Clark, who started the day one shot out of the lead, birdied the first two holes. He bogeyed the par-three eighth, but made four birdies on the back nine to pull ahead.

"You've got to keep making birdies out there or these guys will pass you by," said Clark. "I thought three-under would be pretty good. This is, by far, my best round of the week."

Clark's scores have improved each day (67-66-65), but his putts have gone up each day (29-30-31).

Gow matched Clark's round of 65 for his share of second place. Gow is trying for his second win of the year, having captured the title at the Hershey Open in July. He is eighth on the money list.

Daley shot a four-under 66, as did Van der Walt.

Zoran Zorkic had the low round of the day with an eight-under 62, tying the Hardscrabble Country Club course record. He is tied for fifth with David Berganio, Rick Price and David McCampbell. Berganio won two weeks ago in Omaha.

Jim Benepe, who held the lead after the first two rounds, struggled with a four-over 74 on Saturday and is tied for 27th at five-under par.
