Parsons wins with closing 67

Australia's Lucas Parsons won the Greg Norman International golf tournament by four shots on Sunday.

Parsons finished on 19 under par after a closing round of six-under 67. Australia's Peter Senior shot a final round of 69 to finish second at 15 under. Parsons started the final day at the Lakes tied for the lead at 13 under par with Welshman David Park.

But the 30-year-old Parsons birdied the opening hole to snatch the outright lead and never looked back, finishing with another birdie on the 18th to complete his greatest victory. exemption to both the European and Australasian Tours, which had co-sanctioned the A$2 million ($1.32 million) event, as well as pocketing $360,000 for himself.

"This is a very special event to me. He (Norman) has been a huge impression for me in my lifetime."

Parsons, who won two events on the European Challenge Tour last season, blew his opponents away at the start of Sunday's fourth round. He birdied the first two holes then set up another birdie at the fourth with a great drive. But the killer blow came at the par-three, 156-yard seventh when he chipped in from the fringe of the green to open up a four-shot lead.

Senior, the 1996 Greg Norman tournament winner, picked up four shots in five holes to get within two strokes of Parsons but could not make up the extra ground. Senior bogeyed the testing, 195-yard, par-three 18th while Parsons sank a 12-foot putt on the same hole to finish four in front.

Scotland's Andrew Coltart and Sweden's Per-Ulrik Johansson tied for third at 13 under par after rounds of 71 and 69 respectively while Park finished fifth after missing an easy putt on the last for a round of 74.

U.S. Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal also faded out of contention with a 74 after starting the round two shots off the pace.
