Bjorn takes one shot
lead halfway point
Danish golfer Thomas Bjorn
held a one-stroke lead at the halfway mark of the $1.6 million Heineken Classic
at the Vines Resort here today.
Bjorn, who won this event
two years ago, started the day at four under and repeated that effort with another
68, highlighted by six birdies in the last 10 holes.
A birdie on the par five
18th saw him moved him to eight-under 136, one stroke clear of Australasian Order
of Merit leader Michael Campbell of New Zealand.
Sweden's Johan Skold was
the early clubhouse leader with a 67 to be six under and was later joined by
Germany's Alex Cejka, who fired the tournament's best round, a 66.
Australians Michael Clayton
(70), Peter O'Malley (71) and Stephen Leaney (69) were locked on five-under 139
with Austrian Markus Brier.
