Henry opens up three shot lead

J.J. Henry used bookend eagles -- one on the first hole and a second on the 18th -- to propel him to a three-shot lead at 16-under-par 200 after three rounds of the Buy.com Knoxville Open. Spike McRoy is alone in second at 13-under, while Don Reese, Chris Smith and Jimmy Johnston are four strokes off the pace at minus-12.

Henry, who also rang up a pair of birdies during his bogey-free round of 66, sank a 35-footer on the par-five 18th to stretch a one- shot lead to three heading into the final round.

The 25-year-old Henry recorded three top-10 finishes in his rookie season of 1999, including a second-place showing at the Tri- Cities Open.

Also looking for his first Buy.com Tour win is McRoy, whose eagle on the opening hole Saturday was the first step towards a round of four-under 68.

Reese tallied four birdies on each nine on his way to matching the course record of eight-under 64 at Fox Den Country Club. Smith, who set the mark in Friday's second round, shot a 69 to finish round three in third place with Reese and Johnston, who turned in a 67.

Second-round leader Matt Peterson is alone 11-under after posting an even-par 72 that was comprised of three birdies and three bogeys.

First-round leader and Buy.com Tour money leader Tripp Isenhour carded a 69 after closing with an eagle on 18. He is tied at 10-under with Larry Rinker (66), Gene Sauers (67) and Mike Smith (69).
