Gallagher moves into
three shot lead
Jeff Gallagher has stepped
out to a three-shot lead after firing an eight-under 64 in Saturday's third round
of the Lakeland Classic at the Grasslands Golf & Country Club.
Gallagher, a member of
the PGA Tour the past two years, began the day one shot off the lead. However,
he got off to a blazing start, birdieing the first three holes and following
that up with an eagle on number-four.
"Sometimes you have those
days," said Gallagher. "You can make birdies on the first four holes. I was in
a zone today."
Gallagher, winner of the
1991 Cleveland Open on the then-Ben Hogan Tour, added birdies on seven, 12 and
13 to get to 16-under. He had an opportunity to climb to minus-17, but missed
a birdie try on the final hole.
Tom Kalinowski is alone
in second at 13-under while second-round co-leader Mike Standly has third place
to himself at minus-12.
Donnie Hammond, who shared
the 36-hole lead with Standly and Buy.com Tour rookie Kelly Grunewald, is five
shots off the lead at 11-under.
Grunewald carded an even-par
72 in round three and is tied with two others at minus-nine.
Last week's winner Fran
Quinn is 13 shots back at three-under after shooting his second straight two-under-par
70.
