Martin shoots 64 and still unhappy

Spaniard Miguel Angel Martin fired a 7-under-par 64 to take an early one-shot lead in the the Trophée Lancôme and then blasted television producers for not featuring his opening round.

"It is not fair," said a furious Martin after edging a stroke ahead of fellow Spaniard Santiago Luna and two better than the in-form Thomas Björn of Denmark and Dutchman Maarten Lafeber. "I shoot 7 under and the television do not take one picture of me. The first round will be shown and they do not have one single shot of me.

"It is not because they did not know what I was shooting because I was 7 under with four holes still to go.

"I've got sponsors who pay to see me playing on the television, obviously, and they are not being treated fairly.

"The cameras are always on the top players, especially the British, and the rest of us are not being treated fairly."

It was the second outburst by a Spanish player claiming that coverage concentrated on British players.

In June, two-time U.S. Masters champion José Maria Olazábal complained that Colin Montgomerie had more than 20 pictures in the European PGA Championship pre-tournament handbook to one of his and that television watched only British players.

A television spokesman hit back at Martin, saying: "Sky doesn't normally show any of the morning play anyway, but did today because of top players being in the morning groups.

"We have only 10 cameras and they can't be everywhere. We concentrated on Montgomerie, [Lee] Westwood, [Nick] Faldo group and the groups around them.

"Pictures of Martin playing the last two holes were taken and they will be added to the morning highlights."

Martin captured the lead with a blistering run of eagle and two birdies in four holes to the turn and three birdies in four holes from the 11th.

"This morning, I had a good feeling," said Martin. "I said to my caddie it was high time I shot a 63 at this course and I nearly did it."
