Taiwan's Yeh Wei-tze wins by one

Taiwan's Yeh Wei-tze shot a final-round 69 for a 10-under total of 278 to win the Malaysian Open golf championship by one stroke on Sunday.

Yeh, who turns 28 next week, said it was a tense finish. "I was very nervous when I stepped on to the 17th tee.

"I was so excited to be on the fringe of success. Fortunately I managed to pull it off."

At the par-three 17th hole, Yeh sent his tee shot to the rough on the slope of the bunker. He chipped beautifully to within inches to save par.

On the 18th, his drive caught on the rough on the left of the fairway. He chipped out, then hit the ball short on the fringe. He missed the putt for bogey and had to settle for double-bogey.

Threee players shared second place, one stroke behind. They were Padraid Harrington of Ireland, Des Terblanche of South Africa and Craig Hainline of the United States.

Two other South Africans -- Nico van Rensburg and Retief Goosen -- finished another stroke behind, together with China's Zhang Lian-wei and India's Jeev Milkha Singh.
