Quotes from the play on Saturday

Quotes from the play on Saturday

Tiger Woods,16 under,200,67 today.
"My position is not bad. I knew that conditions were advantageous to shooting low scores but I needed to play smart and be at my best so that I would be in a position to play a few putts. All I can ask is to get chances and I was able to do that most of the day "Playing with David is what the people want, one and two against each other in the final round of a major. We are great friends and we will give it everything we have. The reality is that you have to be smart and in tune with your body and your game. "I understand how to play a final round.Any time you have a lead you feel pressure and the bigger the lead the more you feel.If you don't end up winning you don't feel so good about yourself at the end of the day."

Thomas Bjorn,ten under,206,68 today.
"second is the first guy that loses and it certianly looks like somebody out there is playing golf on a different planet from the rest of us.I set out today to get some birdies early on.I did that.I'm playing pretty solid golf, pretty much hitting the ball where I want to hit it.If you shoot three rounds under 70 at St Andrews you're not doing so bad.Unfortunately for the rest of us Tiger is doing something out there which is different class. We're probably just going for second place at the moment unless some of us go out there and make five, six, seven birdies in the first six holes.I played with him in the first round at the US Open and he looks fantastic on the golf course.I think every golf player can learn a lot from him,the way he goes about things. He is very composed. You look up at the leaderboard today and he drops a shot early on and then all of a sudden he goes crazy and makes birdie after birdie. All in all he is just doing good golf."

David Duval,ten under,206,66 today.
"That was the best I have felt all week, pretty much pain free in my back.I cannot sit very much or lay down but I want to give myself the best chance to be pain free tomorrow. "I feel like my touch on the greens came back last weekend and although it is a simple part of the game it is one that has been mising.I have been in a lot of pain but I have got the joints back to where I have a full range of motion again.

Everything else is where I wanted it to be,it is back in place. "At nine under I didn't feel I could get into the last group.I just want to be there, it will be a circus, exciting,a slugfest, but I wanted to give myself a chance to get there. You have got to look them in the eye and if I can swing the club like I have in the last few days I can show them I have got a little game going as well. It's an experience you want to have. "With Tiger,I will be trying to win my first Major and he will be trying to complete a Grand Slam. There is pressure on both parties. What you need is what I had on 18 today when I turned a six into a three. The important thing is to enjoy it,have fun,and know that the hard work has paid off.I would aim to shoot 66 tomorrow or better.I got a lot out of my round today."

Darren Clarke,nine under,207,68 today.
"I came into the week hoping to get on the leader board and it has worked out.Invariably Tiger has his name up at the top and he is a tough man to beat but this golf course can throw up surprises. He is playing fantastic but he is not invincible at the end of the day. "This course demands a lot of patience and you have got to accept that you will have to putt in from 25 feet.I would like the wind to blow a little more. You cannot put a figure on it because this golf course will jump up and bite you.Tiger is playing so well and he will be very tough to catch."

Benrhard Langer,six under,210,66 today.
"It's nice to shoot 66 and it could have been better if I'd made one or two putts at the end,but such is golf. Also the conditions are very calm and easy for scoring really.Basically I would have liked some wind to sort the guys out but who knows I might have been one of those who would be sorted out too--so we will take it as it comes. I have had good starts on all three days.Today I finally brought a decent score in,hopefully I can do it again tomorrow.I reckon I will be ten shots behind at the end of the day as I reckon the scores will be low."

Dean Robertson,five under,211,68 today.
"I am absolutely delighted because my preparations on the range were absolutely terrible,so much so I didn't get past a five iron.I would have settled easily for four under par going out because my game hasn't been in fine shape this week,so much so that I have pulled out of the Dutch Open next week. I don't know if my game came together today but I did manage to avoid the bunkers and so far there have not been any disasters. You want to do so well being a Scot playing at St.Andrews and I am quite happy with the position at the moment. You don't want to miss the atmosphere here and the support just keeps you going."

Bob May,six under,210,66 today.
"I am just glad that at last I was able to put some numbers on the board that reflected the way I was playing,I just hope I can do the same thing tomorrow and we'll see what happens. If you can't get inspiration from a place like this then you'll never get inspiration. It is a great place to play golf."

Colin Montgomerie,three under,213,72 today.
"I worked hard on my putting yesterday. If I didn't think there was a way out I would give it up."
