Kanada and Bradley share narrow lead

Craig Kanada and Rob Bradley both fired course record-tying seven-under-par 65's to share the lead after the opening round of the Buy.com Oregon Classic.

Kanada, who matched his best sub-par round of the year, rallied for five birdies and two eagles in the opening round after bogeying the first two holes. Meanwhile, Bradley recorded eight birdies and a bogey over the first 18 holes.

Buy.com Ozarks Open champion Pat Perez is in third place after carding a six-under 66. Dayton Open champ Ian Leggatt, Brian Bateman, Dennis Zinkon and Todd Barranger are tied for fourth, two shots back, while six players, including last week's winner Tim Clark, share eighth place at four-under.

Kanada is currently 35th on the season money list and could use a victory and the $72,000 first-place check if he hopes to have any chance of finishing in the top 15 at the end of the year. That would enable him to regain his PGA Tour playing card.

The course record of 65 was originally set in 1998 by Joe Ogilvie, Tom Scherrer and Charles Raulerson and matched in 1999 by event winner Kelly Gibson and Jim Johnson.
