Perez wins three way playoff
Pat Perez made a 5-foot birdie putt on the first hole of a playoff with Mike Heinen and Pat Bates on Sunday to win the Buy.com Tour's Ozarks Open.
Perez closed with a 3-under-par 69 to match Heinen and Bates at 18-under 270 on the Highland Springs Country Club course. Perez earned a career-high $76,500 for his first Buy.com title.
``It feels like I finally accomplished something in my career,'' said Perez, who helped Arizona State to the 1996 NCAA title. ``It's a real accomplishment to beat these guys.''
Heinen finished with a 66, and Bates shot a 69. Paul Gow (66), Hugh Royer III (66) and Matt Peterson (68) tied for fourth at 271.
Perez led at 18 under before bogeying the 17th hole, but scrambled to birdie the par-5 18th to grab the last playoff spot.
