Coral Group. This is a new biennial three-day event named in honor of the Spanish
superstar.
The tournament features
two teams of 10 players with a total of 26 points at stake through a series of
foursomes, fourballs, greensomes and singles matches, with each member of the
winning team receiving 150,000 euros and the runners-up 90,000 euros.
Friday's schedule will have
morning foursomes and afternoon fourballs. On Saturday, players will compete
in morning greensomes and afternoon fourballs and on Sunday, 10 singles, match-play
matches will be held. The first match will confront both captains: Seve Ballesteros
vs. Colin Montgomerie. In case of a tie, the playoff match will be a greensome.
This is the 100th anniversary
of the Old Course at Sunningdale which was laid out by two-time British Open
champion Willie Park. The next event on the European Tour will be April 20-23
for the Moroccan Open where Miguel Angel Martin will defend his title.
