NOTES:
This event will mark the first time that Buy.com Tour players will compete
with amateurs over three days. The tournament will feature 156 professionals
paired with an amateur partner in a two-day better-ball competition. The 10
best pro-am teams will advance to play on Saturday. While the winner of the
event will take home $90,000, the amateurs will compete for individual
prizes and cash donations to pass along to the charity of their choice. This
is the second of four new events on the 2001 Buy.com Tour schedule. The
Buy.com Tour played in in Greenville, South Carolina the past nine years at
Verdae Greens Golf Club. Last year, Shane Bertsch came from two strokes off
the pace in the final round to collect his first career title, as he carded a
Sunday 64. The players will play both courses the first two days with rounds
three and four played on the Cliffs Valley course. Next week the Buy.com Tour
travels north to North Carolina for the Buy.com Carolina Classic. Current PGA
Tour player Mark Hensby captured last year's event.
