Bennett takes over lead

Warren Bennett of England shot a 6-under-par 66 for the second straight round Friday to take a one-stroke lead in the Cannes Open.

Bennett bogeyed the 1st and 13th holes but had eight birdies, including at the 18th, to go to 12 under after two rounds. He is looking for his first European tour victory of 2001.

He led countryman Andrew Marshall, Norway's Henrik Bjornstad and Argentina's Jorge Berendt by a stroke

Marshall and Bjornstad shot 68s Friday, while Berendt carded 66.

France's Raphael Jacquelin was in fifth place at 10 under after a 65 Friday.

Overnight leader Lucas Parsons had a 73 a day after his record-tying 62. He was tied for sixth with five others, including defending champion Thomas Levet.
