 NOTES:
Tied for the lead with Brandie Burton heading into Sunday's final round,
Annika Sorenstam fired a six-under 66 to clip Cristie Kerr and Karrie Webb
by one shot and capture last year's event. Sorenstam's total of 197 set a new
tournament record, breaking the previous mark of 199 set by Meg Mallon and
Dottie Pepper in 1998. Burton shot a final round of 71 to finish alone in
seventh. Sorenstam is attempting to become the first two-time winner of this
event. Mi Hyun Kim tied the course record of 63 during round one and finished
fifth while Wendy Ward equaled the mark on Sunday to come in sixth. Country
Club of the North has hosted this event since its inception in 1994. The
purse was increased by $100,000 from last year. Playoffs have decided the
winner of this event two of the last three years. Sorenstam has won three
times in six events in the state of Ohio and has finished in the top-25 five
times. This is one of the few stops on the LPGA Tour which is not televised.
Next week the LPGA Tour moves to New York for the Corning Classic where Betsy
King, second on the all-time money list, will defend her title.
