 NOTES:

Gil Morgan became the first wire-to-wire winner of the 2000 season when
he captured last year's event by four shots over Larry Nelson. Morgan
opened the event with back-to-back 65's and held a two-shot advantage
over Nelson. During the rain-delayed final round, Nelson trimmed the
lead to one with just eight holes remaining, however Morgan birdied
the 13th and 14th and Nelson bogeyed the 15th, as Dr. Gil recorded his
16th career win. Since last year's win, Morgan has added three wins to
his credit, including this season's ACE Group Classic in Naples. Last
year's win came in his first start of the 2000 season, as Morgan was unable
to play competitive golf after pulling a rib muscle in December of 1999.
In 1999 Bob Duval joined son David as the only father-son duo to win PGA
TOUR-sanctioned events on the same day, as David won THE PLAYERS
Championship and Bob this event. The Moors Golf Club has hosted this event
since its inception in 1995. The Moors ranked 13th last year on the Senior
Tour in terms of difficulty after being ranked sixth in 1999. There have
been only two holes-in-one in the six-year history of the tournament. Ray
Floyd turned the trick in 1995 and DeWitt Weaver posted an ace in 1997. The
purse was increased by $150,000 from last year. Playoffs have decided three
of the six previous Emerald Coast Classics. Last year's tournament was the
first one to be decided by more than two shots. Bruce Fleisher has finished
second and third the last two years. Isao Aoki still holds the Senior Tour
record for the lowest 18-hole score with a 10-under 60 shot at this event in
1997 when he captured the event. Morgan and Aoki rank one-two in money won at
this event with Morgan winning $325,150. The Senior Tour remains in the state
of Florida next week for the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf where Jim Colbert
and Andy North will defend their title.
