NOTES:
Last year, Dorothy Delasin became the youngest winner at age 19, since
Amy Alcott won the Orange Blossom Classic in 1975, as she defeated Pat Hurst
on the second playoff hole. Four shots off the pace when Sunday's final round
began, Delasin carded her second straight 67 to forge into a playoff with
Hurst. Hurst, who closed with a two-under 70, traded pars with Delasin on the
first extra hole then missed a 10-foot putt for par on the second hole of
sudden death. Delasin won after her birdie attempt from 25 feet stopped two
feet from the hole and she made the putt for par. Last year's extra session
marked the seventh playoff in the events 11-year history. Avalon Lakes had
hosted this event for the last eight years. Squaw Creek Country Club
played host to the tournament for the first three years. Michelle McGann is
the only player to win this event two straight years. Tammie Green and McGann
are the only two-time winners of the tournament. Next week the LPGA Tour moves
to Europe for the Weetabix Women's British Open at Sunningdale Golf Club in
England where Sophie Gustafson will defend her title.
