 NOTES:
Vijay Singh carded a Sunday round of 69 to defeat Ernie Els by
three shots to capture last year's Masters title. Loren Roberts and
David Duval finished tied for third while Tiger Woods finished fifth.
Singh was the only player in the field to post four rounds at par or
better. International players have won nine of the last 13 and 11 of
the past 18 Masters tournaments. No player has ever won The Masters
after winning the par-three tournament held on Wednesday prior to the
tournament. This is the first "major" on the PGA Tour this year. There
are 18 first-time players this year and five amateurs. A total of 101
players have been invited to this year's event, with 94 expected to
compete. Invitations may also be issued to the tournament who: win The
Players Championship, finish among the top three leaders on the 2001
PGA Tour money list published during the fourth week prior to the
Masters, finish among the top-50 on the official World Golf Rankings
published during the fourth week prior to the Masters. The Masters
Committee, at its discretion, also invites international players not
 otherwise qualified.
