NOTES:
This is the first year of the tournament and the first of three
new events on the Senior Tour this season. Professional golf is no
stranger to the San Jose area. In 1926-27, the San Jose Open was in
played in the area with Bell Mehlhorn capturing both events. Almaden
Country Club hosted a PGA Tour event in the early 1960s. Jim Ferrier
won the first Almaden Open in 1961 while Billy Casper won the 1964
title and Al Geiberger won the 1965 event. Almaden Country Club also
hosted the NIKE San Jose Open in 1995-98. Next week the Senior Tour
moves back to the state of Florida for the Emerald Coast Classic,
where Gil Morgan will defend his title.
