NOTES:
For the first and only time in LPGA Tour history, a Monday qualifier
captured an event, when Laurel Kean won last year's State Farm Classic. Kean
won a two-hole playoff in the Monday qualifier just to earn a spot in the
event and then went out and carded three straight 66's to cruise to a six-shot
margin over 1999 champ Mi Hyun Kim and Dina Ammaccapane. With the win, her
lone LPGA victory, Kean became the fourth straight first-time winner at this
event and ninth overall in the 25-year history of the tournament. For the first
time since 1980, the tournament becomes a 72-hole event. The last time this
event was held for four days, Nancy Lopez defeated JoAnne Carner for her 20th
career win. The total purse was increased by $100,000 from last year. The purse
has increased every year since 1990. There have been five multiple winners of
this event with Betsy King as the only three-time winner. Beth Daniel, King and
Carner are the only back-to-back winners of this event. King has three wins and
two runner-up finishes at this event. This tournament has always been held at
the Rail Golf Club since its inception in 1976. Next week, the LPGA Tour moves
to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the inaugural Williams Championship.
