NOTES:
Tied for the lead after three rounds last year, Jeff Hart carded a
two-under par 68 to edge Ian Leggatt by one shot and win for the first time in
his career. Hart's victory came in his 209th professional start dating
back to 1985. His winning total of 275 was the highest winning score on the
BUY.COM Tour in 2000. Paul Gow was tied for the lead with one hole remaining,
but double-bogeyed the final hole and tied for third. Leggatt, who also shared
the lead with one to play, three-putted the 18th to finish second. Leggatt
redeemed himself the following week by winning in Dayton. Hart will not be on
hand to defend his title as he graduated to the PGA Tour last year. So far in
2001, Hart has played in 11 events, making the cut five times, ranking 170th
on the money list without a top-10 finish. The purse for this year's event was
reduced by $25,000 from last year. Glenmaura National, one of the most
challenging and beautiful courses that the BUY.COM Tour plays, was designed
by Dr. Michael Hurzdan with consultant work by Larry Mize. The 491-yard, par-4
sixth hole proved to be the most difficult hole for last year's event. The
hole played to a stroke average 4.402 for the week, making it the 10th
toughest hole on the 2000 BUY.COM TOUR. The converted par 5 yielded only 27
birdies for four days, along with 224 pars, 123 bogeys, 22 double-bogeys and
seven "others." The second toughest hole at Glenmaura was the 460-yard, par-4
16th, which played to a stroke average of 4.305. Glenmaura National Golf Club
proved to be an extremely difficult test during its inaugural tournament. The
converted par-70 course played to a stroke average of 72.861 for the week,
ranking it as the fourth most difficult course on the 2000 BUY.COM TOUR.
This is the ninth of 29 official events on the BUY.COM TOUR. Next week, the
BUY.COM Tour moves north of the border to Ontario for the Samsung Canadian
PGA Championship, the TOUR's first tournament in Canada.
