Campbell extends lead as darkness falls

Michael Campbell birdied five of his first eight holes Friday to extend his lead to five strokes at the Deutsche Bank - SAP Open TPC of Europe. The New Zealander made it to 14-under par at St. Leon Rot before darkness forced the suspension of the second round until Saturday morning.

Campbell, who led by four overnight after opening with a career-best 62 on Thursday, played 11 holes of round two. Eduardo Romero of Argentina stands alone in second at nine-under through 10 holes, while England's Greg Owen and South African Ernie Els are six off the pace at minus-eight.

Owen posted six birdies and two bogeys through 11 holes. Els, the third- ranked player in the world, bounced back from back-to-back bogeys with birdies at the fifth, eight and ninth before wrapping up with a par at the 10th in the failing light.

Defending champion Lee Westwood bogeyed his final hole of the day -- the par-four 10th -- to drop back into a tie for fifth with six others, including Colin Montgomerie, who carded five birdies and no bogeys over 11 holes on Friday.

Diminutive Welshman Ian Woosnam, among the half of the field who didn't play a single shot in Thursday's rain-delayed first round, fired a 66 in the morning followed by an even-par 72 to finish an arduous 36-hole day at six-under 138. Top-ranked Tiger Woods completed 11 holes Friday and is part of a group at five-under par.
