Boros claims first Buy.com win

Guy Boros, the son of Hall of Famer Julius Boros, birdied eight of the final 13 holes in a 7-under 65 to win the Buy.com Tour's Tri-Cities Open on Sunday.

Boros, the 1996 Greater Vancouver Open winner on the PGA Tour, had a 14-under 274 total on the Meadow Springs course for a two-stroke victory over Jeff Gove.

``I hit it as good as I can on the back side. I could have birdied every hole,'' said Boros, who earned $76,500 for his first Buy.Com Tour title.

He began the round five strokes behind third-round leader John Rollins and four-putted the par-5 opening hole for a bogey.

``I was more depressed than anything,'' Boros said. ``I thought, `Here we go again.' I didn't know if a 65 was possible, but I kept plugging and got rewarded for playing well.''

Gove closed with a 69. Rollins shot a 73 to finish third, three strokes back.
