 NOTES:
Ryuji Imada became the first of five rookies to win on the BUY.COM Tour
last year when he captured the Virginia Beach Open. Three shots off the pace
after round one, Imada carded three straight 68's to cruise to a five-shot win
over third-round leader Todd Demsey. Demsey held a one-shot lead heading into
Sunday, but stumbled home with a two-over 74. Imada was also the first
Japanese-born player to win in the 11-year history of the Tour. Last year's
event marked the first-ever BUY.COM Tour event to be played on a Tournament
Players course. The 7,432-yard course, the longest on Tour, played to a
scoring average of 73.615, making it the fifth most difficult on Tour last
year. The course record of 65 was set by Jim Johnson in round three. Johnson
posted a bogey-free round, hitting 17 greens in regulation and posting seven
birdies. Johnson, who needed a 25-foot birdie on the 18th Friday to make the
cut, finished tied for 12th. The purse was increased by $25,000 from last
year. The BUY.COM Tour remains in Virginia next week for the Richmond Open at
Stonehenge Golf and Country Club. Steve Runge is expected to be on hand to
 defend his title.
