NOTES:
Canada's Lorie Kane rolled home a 10-foot birdie putt on the first hole
of sudden death to defeat Mi Hyun Kim and win her second title of the 2000
season. Both players finished regulation tied at 11-under-par after matching
68's. In the playoff, Kane hit a six-iron from 160 yards to 10 feet and holed
the putt while Kim, had a chip to get on the green and could do no better than
par. Both players trailed third-round leader Shani Waugh by five shots heading
into Sunday, but Waugh stumbled home with a two-over 74 to tie for third. 1999
winner Annika Sorenstam, who started the final day one back, also shot 74 and
finished sixth. Sorenstam is the only player in the history of the event to
shoot all four rounds in the 60's when she won here in 1999. This year's
tournament has been shortened to 54 holes and has had a name change to Wendy's
Championship for Children. Next week the LPGA Tour moves to Montreal for the
inaugural Canadian Women's Open at the South Course at Angus Glen Golf Club
in Markham, Ontario.
