Ellis moves two clear into last day

Australia's Michelle Ellis, coming off consecutive runner-up finishes as she seeks her first LPGA Tour victory, shot a 7-under 65 on Saturday to take a two-stroke lead after the third round of the Betsy King Classic.

Ellis birdied eight of the final 11 holes to finish at 15-under 201, breaking the tournament record for 54 holes set last year by Heather Daly-Donofrio en route to her victory.

Australian star Karrie Webb was two strokes back after a 67, and South Korea's Se Ri Pak (66), Kelly Robbins (65) and Angela Stanford (66) followed at 12 under.

Danielle Ammaccapane, who began the round tied for the lead with Australia's Wendy Doolan at 9 under, shot a 71 to fall five strokes back at 10 under. Doolan was another stroke back after a 72.

Mexican Lorena Ochoa, who topped the Futures Tour money list to earn a 2003 LPGA Tour card, shot her second consecutive 68 to top a group at 8 under that included 1998 champion Rachel Teske of Australia.

The 20-year-old Ochoa won three times on the developmental tour and earned $53,702 in just 10 events after winning an NCAA-record eight titles this season for the University of Arizona.

Daly-Donofrio had a 72 and was at 1-under 215. Host Betsy King also had a 72 for a 3-under 213 total.
